Lowenthal has been employed at CBOE for 23 years with experience in trading operations, regulatory services, strategic planning and business development.

As CFE managing director, Lowenthal is responsible for developing all business and operational aspects of CBOE’s futures exchange, including marketing and sales, member relations, and the exchange’s market-making program.[1][2]

As the vice president of business development for CBOE, he oversees the CBOE relationship management program and various technology initiatives designed to deliver option order flow to the CBOE, including the CBOE HyTS Terminal, iSpreads, and CBOE’s Flex option projects. He also oversaw the training effort for the rollout of the exchange’s electronic book system and managed the handheld electronic trading terminal program.

Lowenthal served on the exchange’s screen-based trading committee, where he was instrumental in the design of the CBOEdirect trading system and currently serves on the CBOE Equity Market Performance committee.

Education

He attended the University of Michigan and holds a BS in Business from DePaul University and an MBA in Operations Planning from DePaul University. Lowenthal also attended the Securities Industry Institute at The Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania.
