Bob Swarup is a partner at Pension Corporation, a U.K.-based pension buyout firm, where he oversees alternatives, the risk function and the thought leadership program. Previously, he was at a hedge fund for london-based funds. He is closely involved in both the alternatives community and the wider financial industry. Swarup also does freelance work for media company Amarendra Swarup. [1]

Background

Swarup started at Altedge Capital in 2004 before becoming a partner at Pension in 2007. Swarup is a CAIA (Chartered Alternative Investment Analyst) charter-holder and sits on the CAIA examinations council, the editorial board of AllAboutAlpha.com, and the Association of British Insurers. He has written extensively for a range of media and academic publications on diverse topics including alternatives, cosmology, macroeconomic issues, pensions, asset–liability management, and risk management. Most noteablty QFINANCE, a collection essays on all aspects of global finance by academics, policymakers and practitioners across the world. He is currently a visiting fellow at the London School of Economics and is writing a book on financial crises to be published in 2012. [2]

He is currently a visiting fellow at the London School of Economics, where he oversees Pensions Tomorrow, a research initiative looking into the economic, sociopolitical, and financial aspects of pensions and longevity. Swarup sits on the Advisory Board at Adveq, a leading European private equity fund. [3]

Education

He holds a PhD in cosmology from Imperial College of London, and MA in Natural Sciences from the University of Cambridge as well as a Masters in Physics research from Royal Holloway and quantum fields and fundamental forces from Imperial College of London.
