BrownCo was an online deep discount brokerage business that JPMorgan Chase & Co. sold to E*TRADE Financial Corp. for a cash purchase price of $1.6 billion. The deal closed by the end of 2005, and on May 8, 2006, BrownCo accounts were transferred to E*TRADE Securities.
