Bryan Harkins is the chief operating officer of Direct Edge, effective January 3, 2011.[1] Harkins joined Direct Edge in March 2007 as head of sales and strategy. His current responsibilities include operations, product development, sales, and overseeing the day-to-day activities of the exchange.
He succeeded William Karsh as COO, who left the company at the end of 2010.[2]
Background
Before joining Direct Edge, Harkins was Managing Director of Transaction Services at NASDAQ from 2001 to 2007. He has also been a strategic account manager at BRUT LLC and a technical account manager at Tradescape. Harkins began his career as an electronic connectivity specialist at Instinet Corp. in 1999.
