Caisse des Dépôts owns 40% of BlueNext, and is a long-term investor serving the public interest and economic development in France. Its core businesses are to safeguard and manage savings and privately owned funds, to finance social housing and regional development and to administer pension schemes. Caisse des Dépôts is also a major French institutional investor, with consolidated assets of €200 billion. Protecting the environment is one of the company's strategic priorities.
Caisse des Dépôts manages France's greenhouse gas registry and has developed Seringas, an emissions trading software platform that has been adopted by several countries. In 2007, it launched a nationwide plan to fund projects that promote voluntarily reductions in CO2 emissions. Caisse des Dépôts sponsors the European Carbon Fund and is a shareholder in Sagacarbon, a broker specialising in the CO2 allowances market.[1]
