The Commodity Exchange Authority (CEA) was a regulatory agency of the US Department of Agriculture established to administer the Commodity Exchange Act prior to 1975. The CEA was the predecessor agency to the Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC).

While the Commodity Exchange Authority only regulated agricultural commodities enumerated in the Commodity Exchange Act, the CFTC has exclusive jurisdiction over all futures and options on futures contracts.
