Donald Brydon CBE is chairman of the London Metal Exchange, elected to the role in July 2003 [1].

Brydon was elected to replace John Pizzey as chairman in 2003 after a career focused on asset management. He joined the LME from Axa Investment Managers, where he was chief executive from 1997-2002 and then chairman.

He joined Axa in 1997 after 20 years with Barclays, where he was chairman and chief executive of BZW Investment Management and latterly acting chief executive of BZW, its investment banking arm. From 1970 to 1977 he was employed by British Airways' pension scheme as analyst and senior fund manager.

Affiliations

Brydon is chairman of Smiths Group, the aerospace manufacturer, and Taylor Nelson Sofres, a market information specialist. He has also been chairman of Amersham and a director of Allied Domecq and Scottish Power.

Education

Brydon graduated in mathematical science from the University of Edinburgh
