Edward J. Joyce is president and chief operating officer of the Chicago Board Options Exchange (CBOE), serving from June 2000, following his election by the CBOE board of directors.

Joyce, who has held various positions with the CBOE for more than 25 years, previously served as executive vice-president in charge of business development. He was responsible for coordinating various key activities central to relationship management, including marketing, member trading services and The Options Institute, the educational arm of CBOE.

Joyce began his career with the exchange in 1974 as a trading post coordinator, and held positions of increasing responsibility in the areas of trading procedures, operations and business development. He assumed responsibility for floor operations in 1978 and was named executive vice-president of trading operations in 1987[1].

Affiliations

Joyce serves on the board of directors of the Options Clearing Corporation and the CBOE Futures Exchange. He previously served on the board of directors of the National Stock Exchange and OneChicago.

Joyce is on the advisory board of the Illinois Council on Economic Education and is active in the Knights of Columbus.

Education

He holds a B.S. in Business Administration from Illinois State University and an M.B.A. from DePaul University.
