Edward T. Tilly was appointed executive vice chairman of the Chicago Board Options Exchange (CBOE) by CBOE’s board of directors in August 2006. Prior to assuming that role, he was CBOE member vice chairman from 2004 to 2006, the highest member-elected position at the exchange[1].

Tilly was a CBOE member from 1989 to 2006, and traded both as a market maker and as a designated primary market maker (DPM). As a CBOE member, he served on the CBOE's board of directors from 1998 to 2000 and again from 2003 to 2006. In 2006 he chaired the CBOE Floor Directors Committee and served on the exchange's Strategy and Implementation Task Force. He also was a member of the Executive Committee and the Compensation Committee, key committees of the CBOE board of directors, and on the Governance Committee.

As chairman of the Equity Floor Procedure Committee for a number of years, Tilly played a leadership role in the conceptualization, development and rollout of the CBOE Hybrid trading system, launched in 2003, which merged the best features of screen-based and open outcry trading.

Tilly previously was a member of the board of Directors of OneChicago, an all-electronic security futures exchange, and of the National Stock Exchange (NSX).

Education

Tilly received a degree in Economics from Northwestern University, Evanston, IL.
