Electronic trading hours (ETH) refer to the hours when an exchange's electronic trading system such as
CME Globex or
LIFFE CONNECT is operating. In contrast,
regular trading hours (RTH) are those hours traditionally associated with trading on an exchange's
trading floor. The distinction is necessary today, as electronic trading hours (ETH) have expanded the trading day. Thus, a trader can be in the market during RTH, ETH, or during both. Some exchanges such as Eurex offer only electronic trade.
