The Truth in Savings Act was enacted on Dec. 19, 1991, as Subtitle F of the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation Improvement Act of 1991. Regulation DD, which implements the TISA, became effective on June 21, 1993 and enables consumers to make better informed decisions about accounts at depository institutions through the use of uniform disclosures.
