Humphrey Borkum is non-executive chairman of JSE Limited, operator of the Johannesburg Stock Exchange and the Safex derivatives platform. He was appointed to the JSE board in 2000 and assumed the chairman role in 2003

Borkum spent the rest of his career at Smith Borkum Hare, where he rose to become chairman and CEO of the stockbroker acquired by Merrill Lynch in 1995. He remains chairman of Merrill Lynch South Africa[1].
