Instinet is one of the largest global electronic communication networks (ECNs). Instinet provides access to more than 50 equity trading venues, including stock exchanges, alternative trading systems and its own liquidity pools. Its global trading platform includes algorithms, routing functionality and other trading tools and can be reached through Instinet's proprietary front ends, sales traders or selected third-party systems.[1]

Instinet provides tools for trade execution in more than 40 countries. It acts solely as an agent for more than 1,500 clients around the world, with the goal of lowering overall trading costs through its various front-end trading systems, securities crossing networks, smart-routing technology, algorithms, commission management programs and investment research products.

Instinet's subsidiaries include CBX in the United States, JapanCrossing in Asia and Chi-X in Europe, Canada and, soon, Australia. Instinet is a wholly-owned subsidiary of Nomura Holdings, Inc., and has offices in North America, Europe and the Asia-Pacific region.

Instinet Europe Limited is Instinet's European agency brokerage subsidiary. It is one of Europe's largest agency brokerages. It is a top 10 broker by market share ranking on the London Stock Exchange, and employs more than 40 sales and trading personnel in four European locations. Instinet Europe provides its clients with agency sales trading, global portfolio trading, algorithmic trading/DMA and commission management.

Trading Portal

Instinet's Trading Portal is an execution management system designed for the active trader. Portal makes it possible to trade single orders, block and lists in global equity markets from one desktop. It provides quick quoting and order-entry, consolidated market views with depth of book, a customizable workspace and a range of trading tools and functionality, including the ability to manage lists up to about 100 names. Portal is broker-neutral and provides access to more than 50 worldwide destinations.

Instinet Newport

Instinet developed Instinet Newport to provide execution management for global portfolio traders. Newport provides workflow integration, real-time analytics, collaboration tools, broker-neutrality and customization, with access to more than 50 global destinations. It is entirely broker-neutral. Newport is supported by Instinet's Global Portfolio Trading desk.

Instinet Execution Experts algorithmic trading suite leverages both Instinet's and Nomura's algorithms.[2]
