JY Pillay is non-executive chairman of Singapore Exchange Limited, appointed to the position on November 18, 1999.

Pillay held a variety of positions in the Government of Singapore from 1961–1995, including spells in the ministries of defense and national development, and serving as managing director of the Monetary Authority of Singapore from 1985-89 while at the finance ministry.

He has chaired a number of government-liniked companies, including Singapore Airlines (1972–1996), Temasek Holdings (Private) Limited (1974–1986), Development Bank of Singapore Ltd (1979–1984), and Singapore Technologies Holdings Private Limited (1991–1994). He was also the chairman of the Council on Corporate Disclosure and Governance until its dissolution on 1 September 2007[1].

Education

Pillay graduated with a First Class Bachelor of Science (Honours) degree from Imperial College of Science and Technology, University of London in 1956.
