Jean-Francois Théodore is deputy chief executive officer and a director of NYSE Euronext. Previous to the merger of NYSE and Euronext, he was the CEO and chairman of the managing board of Euronext since its creation in September 2000.[1]
Background
Théodore began his career with the French Treasury (Direction du Trésor) at the Ministry of Economy and Finance from 1974 to 1989, serving as assistant head of the State Holdings Bureau. He was then seconded for two years to Credit National.
From 1993 to 2000, he was chairman of SICOVAM SA, the French central depository which became Euroclear France.
He presided over the International Federation of Stock Exchanges (FIBV) for two years (1993-1994) and was president of the Federation of European Stock Exchanges (1998-2000).[2]
Théodore was chairman of CLEARNET SBF SA, a subsidiary of Euronext, which runs Euronext clearing operations, until its merger with LCH at the end of 2003 to become LCH.Clearnet.[3]
Théodore currently is a member of the supervisory boards of Atos Euronext Market Solutions Holdings S.A.S, Euroclear plc and Atos Origin S.A., and also serves on the boards of LCH.Clearnet Group Ltd, GL TRADE S.A. and MBE Holding.
Education
Théodore holds a law degree from the University of Paris and is a graduate of the Institut d'Etudes Politiques de Paris and the Ecole Nationale d'Administration (ENA).[4]
