Jeremiah Norton is a JP Morgan Chase executive director, nominated by President Barack Obama in early February 2012 to fill an open position on the five-member board at the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation (FDIC). His nomination was confirmed by the U.S. Senate on March 29, 2012.
Background
During his time at JP Morgan, Norton advised institutions on mergers and acquisitions. Before that, he was deputy assistant secretary for financial institutions policy at the U.S. Treasury Department from 2007 to 2009.[1] There he advised former Treasury Secretary Henry Paulson during the financial crisis. Norton was key to the TARP bank bailout and the takeover of Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac.[2] Norton also worked as a banking staffer for Rep. Edward Royce.[3]
