John Mathias, global manager, listed derivative markets relations at Merrill Lynch will leave the firm at the end of September 2008 and will take a yet unnamed senior management position at Singapore Mercantile Exchange, the new commodities market. Mathias will start on December 1, 2008.
Mathias also serves as a member of the Board of Directors of the Futures and Options Association. [1]

Background
Mathias has been with Merrill Lynch since the early 1990s, having taken on increasing global responsibilities over time. He also is a former chairman of the European Chapter of the Futures Industry Association and currently serves as a member of the Exchange Council of Eurex Deutschland. [2]
Education
Mathias earned a B.A. with honors from the London School of Economics and a D.Phil. (Ph.D.) from St. John's College, Oxford.
