Jon Najarian, known informally by his trading acronym of DRJ or Doctor J., is a trader, market analyst and co-founder of optionMONSTER, a provider of market intelligence and commentary.[1] He is a regular contributor to various CNBC cable television programs, including Fast Money and Squawk Box. He also hosts a radio show on CBS every business day called "Stocks and Jocks, Taking Care of Business with Doctor J."[2] He has been a member of the Chicago Board of Trade since 1982.

Along with his brother, Pete Najarian, he founded an online brokerage called Trademonster in October 2008, during the worst financial turmoil in three-quarters of a century. Trademonster sends trading information through the Web without requiring clients to download trading software. It is in direct competition with rivals such as OptionsXpress Holdings Inc.[3]

Najarian began his financial career at the Chicago Board Options Exchange in 1981 after a brief stint as a professional football player with the Chicago Bears.[1]

In 1989, he founded Mercury Trading, running the company for 15 years until he sold his floor operations in 2004 to Citadel, one of the world's largest hedge funds.[2]

In 1991 Doctor J founded 1010WallStreet.com, a financial news site aimed at serious traders.[3]

In a draft research paper dated March 10, 2002 from Allen M. Poteshman of the department of finance, College of Business at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, Najarian was cited as concluding from trading activity ahead of the September 11, 2001 terrorist attack in the United State that "somebody knew ahead of time the attacks would occur."[6]
