Kim Fournais

Kim Fournais is co-CEO of Saxo Bank A/S. He and the other Saxo Bank co-CEO Lars Seier Christensen met during the early 1990s. They went on to establish Midas in 1992. In 2001, Midas changed its name to Saxo Bank, after it was awarded official bank status.[1]

Fournais owns the Danish island Vejroe[2] and is an active sportsman with a passion for flying, biking, skiing and hunting.

Background

In a brief period between 1999-2000 Fournais also acted as managing director of a joint venture between Credit Lyonnais and Midas’ sister company, CL Markets.com. CL Markets.com was a joint venture between Credit Lyonnais and Midas concentrating on the development of Internet-based trading systems and Web sites working closely together with both institutions.

As of January of 2001, Midas effectively took over all shares of CL Markets.com from Credit Lyonnais and merged the main activities with those of Midas. The full technical infrastructure including SaxoTrader remains one of the key focus areas for Kim Fournais as well as the overall strategic planning and operations of Saxo Bank.[3]

Fournais put aside the engineering degree that he earned at the Technical University of Denmark and embarked on a career in the financial sector with Lannung Bank in 1988.
