The LPX Leipzig Power Exchange (LPX) commenced trading operations on June 14, 2000. Two years later, it merged with the Frankfurt-based European Energy Exchange to form the current European Energy Exchange (EEX).[1]
Shortly before the merger in 2002, the number of participants at LPX had increased to 82 companies from nine countries.[2]
