Laurence Rosenberg is founder and principal of LRosenberg Consulting and a former chairman of the Chicago Mercantile Exchange and member of the Chicago Board of Trade.
Background
Rosenberg began his career in the financial services industry in 1961 with the purchase of a membership at the Chicago Board of Trade. In 1965 he became a member of the Chicago Mercantile Exchange, where he became involved in many facets of the exchange's governance[1].His commitment to active membership at the Chicago Mercantile Exchange brought him to the chair of many committees that are integral to the Exchange and its relationships with both the public and government. Rosenberg served on the CME board of directors from 1970 to 1995, and the maximum allowable term as chairman from 1977-1980. He also served as first vice-chairman of the board in 1976, and from 1983-1989. He was a member of the Executive Committee from 1975 to 1995 and held the chair from 1977-1980. Rosenberg was also chief legislative liaison from 1986-1994 and served as chairman of the International Steering and Strategic Planning Committees. He was elected senior policy advisor to the board in 1991.
He is the former chairman[2] of the investment advisory board of Lake Shore Asset Management, which is under investigation by the CFTC and NFA. He resigned from Lake Shore on August 13, 2007.
Education
Rosenberg graduated from Lake Forest College with a degree in economics, and served in the United States Army Counter Intelligence Corps.
