Michael Walinskas[1] is senior vice president, Risk Management and Membership at The Options Clearing Corporation (OCC). He is a member of the Maryland bar.[2]
In his position at the OCC, Walinskas assumes responsibility for managing two of the most critical areas of OCC—risk management and membership. OCC’s history in these core areas has helped it become the first clearinghouse to receive a AAA-credit rating from Standard & Poor’s Corporation in 1993, and every year since.[3]

He joined OCC in 1999. Prior to joining OCC, Walinskas served on the staff of the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC). As a former associate director within the SEC’s Division of Market Regulation, he played a key role in the development of the SEC’s position on many important equity and derivatives markets issues, and served as a manager responsible for regulatory oversight of the U.S. stock and options exchanges.
Education
Walinskas graduated from Calvert Hall College High School in Towson, Maryland. [4] He received a J.D. degree from Georgetown University and a B.S. degree from the University of Maryland.
