On Dec. 5, 2007 Mizuho Financial said that it would inject about $1.36 billion into its securities unit, which was hit by the US subprime loan crisis. Mizuho Corporate Bank, the wholesale banking unit of the group, would buy 150 billion yen worth of new shares to be issued by Mizuho Securities to help shore up its capital base.[1]
