The NYMEX Foundation (NF), [1] established in 1989, coordinates the philanthropic efforts of the former New York Mercantile Exchange, now part of the CME Group.
The NYMEX Foundation is a registered as a 501 c 3, not-for-profit organization serving children, elderly persons and local environmental causes.[2]
The NYMEX Children in Need Fund supports children's causes. The NYMEX Charitable Assistance Fund, Inc., [3] which was established after the September 11, 2001, terrorist attack, is a public charity that raises funds to assist surviving spouses and/or dependents of a NYMEX family member, including, but not limited to, those who died in the terrorist attack on the World Trade Center, and those similarly situated in the future.

History
In 1989, the NYMEX Children in Need Fund's budget was $125,000. From 1989 to 2006, the foundation was able to distribute more than $20 million to several hundred charitable organizations. In 2006, more than $3.1 million was distributed to 317 charitable organizations.
Key People
The foundation is headed by former NYMEX executive Madeline Boyd. CME Group Executive Chairman Terrence Duffy serves as chairman.
Fund Raising
The NYMEX Foundation holds a live and silent auction[4] at a yearly event to help raise money for the foundation to distribute.
