Patrick L. Young is an advisor in financial market infrastructure and principal of DV Advisors, a strategic consulting and investment firm. Young is actively involved in advising institutional investors in all aspects of financial market infrastructure world-wide, including exchanges, brokerages and trading IT companies. Young also works with some specialist agencies such as the Gerson Lehrman Group where according to Young he is in the top 2 percent of their 300,000 plus advisers world-wide and a member of the (top 5 percent) Leaders Program. He is also actively involved in advising on the establishment and development of financial centers and was the founding chairman of the Global Financial Centres Conference.

Young is a strong proponent of the "New Europe" and invests via a private vehicle Projekt Vistula SP z o o as well as various other ventures not in the public domain stretching from the Baltic states to the Balkans.[1]

He has spoken at conferences throughout the world on issues related to the future of finance and is known for a pithy and entertaining style. He has written opinion pieces for financial journals including L'Agefi, Australian Financial Review, Financial Times, Wall Street Journal) and has appeared on radio and television on networks such as BBC, Bloomberg, CNBC, CNN, Reuters TV.

Background

In the course of a varied career, Young was once a photojournalist (specializing in automotive topics), although has spent more than 2 decades specializing in financial market issues as a practitioner, analyst, broker and trader. An active entrepreneur, nowadays he is chairman of Derivatives Vision Publishing, a specialist publisher of financial books which will launch several new titles beginning Oct. 12, 2010. The next installment of the "Capital Market Revolution!" series will be published during 2011.

Young has been involved with many start-up ventures, ranging from the Classic Car Club in London to a series of publishing ventures such as founding the erivatives.com site was an early online magazines in the derivatives market space from 1995 to 2006. [2] [3]

Young has advised many exchanges, market platforms and IT companies as well a working with regulators and being in the forefront of many new products and markets developments, such aingle-stock futures which he championed during the 1990's. Young was also in the forefront of the sports/entertainment/prediction markets, perhaps most notably as a founder and director of the GSX (which subsequently became Intrade).

He was formerly a broker and technical analyst with Tullett & Tokyo and Daiwa Europe and an independent trader for many years. He did some trading electronically in the early 1990s. He has been a board member of the Swiss Futures & Options Association.[4]

In October of 2010, Young edited and published "The Gathering Storm" [5] a book created by hedge fund manager Lee Robinson, with all proceeds going to charity.

From March to May of 2011, Young served as CEO of SIBEX, the Sibiu Stock Exchange.[6]

In February of 2012 he was appointed a non-executive director on the board of Liquidnet Europe Ltd. [7]

Education

He received an MBA from the Genghis Khan School of Management.
