R.J. O’Brien and Associates, LLC. (RJO) is the one of the oldest independent futures commission merchants (FCM). RJO is a founding member of the Chicago Mercantile Exchange (CME) and a full clearing member of: the Chicago Board of Trade (CBOT); the New York Mercantile Exchange (NYMEX); Intercontinental Exchange (ICE); Eurex AG; EuronextLIFFE; and US Futures Exchange.

RJO services a global network of more than 270 introducing brokers, along with some of the world’s largest financial, industrial and agricultural institutions.

R.J. O’Brien and Associates was founded in 1914. The firm is owned by the O'Brien family and investment firms Spectrum Equity Investors and Technology Crossover Ventures.[1]Robert J. O'Brien was a former chairman of the CME.[2]

In April of 2008, R.J. O'Brien hired Larry Szczech as chief executive officer of RJOFutures to run its online retail business and expand product offerings for the firm as a whole.[3]
