Richard Nesbitt is Chairman and CEO of CIBC World Markets Inc., responsible for the global operations of the investment and corporate banking, capital markets, merchant banking and real estate finance businesses of the Canadian Imperial Bank of Commerce.[1]

Nesbitt was CEO of the TSX Group Inc. from 2004 to 2008, having joined as President of TSX Markets in 2001. He resigned from the position on January 7, 2007, and accepted a position with CIBC as head of their world markets investment division.[2][3]

Background

Prior to the TSX, Nesbitt served as President and Chief Operating Officer of BayStreetDirect Inc., an Internet-based investment dealer. He earlier served as President and Chief Executive Officer of HSBC Securities Canada for three years, after spending 10 years with CIBC Wood Gundy. He also previously lectured for two years at the University of Western Ontario’s School of Business and later worked with Mobil Oil Canada Ltd. for five years.

Education

Nesbitt holds an M.Sc. in Accounting and Finance from the London School of Economics and Political Science, an MBA from the University of Toronto and a BA (Honours) in Business Administration from The University of Western Ontario.
