Robert C. Merton is currently the John and Natty McArthur University Professor at the Harvard Business School. After receiving a Ph.D. in Economics from Massachusetts Institute of Technology in 1970, he served on the finance faculty of MIT's Sloan School of Management until 1988 when he moved to Harvard. Professor Merton is past president of the American Finance Association and a member of the National Academy of Sciences. He received the Alfred Nobel Memorial Prize in the Economic Sciences in 1997.

Education

Merton receive a B.S. in Engineering Mathematics from Columbia University, an M.S. in Applied Mathematics from Caltech, and his PhD. in Economics from Massachusetts Institute of Technology.
