Robert G. Pickel is the chief executive officer of the International Swaps and Derivatives Association, Inc. (ISDA).[1] He previously served as CEO from 2001 to 2009, and was reappointed in November 2011 after a brief time as executive vice chairman.[2]
Pickel is a member of the board of trustees for the Institute for Financial Markets.[3]
In February 2009, Pickel testified before the Committee on Agriculture, U.S. House of Representatives regarding the Derivatives Markets Transparency and Accountability Act of 2009. He currently serves as a member of the CFTC Energy Markets Advisory Committee.[4] and is a former member of the CFTC Global Markets Advisory Committee.
Background
Pickel joined ISDA in November 1997, and previously served as executive director and CEO, as well as the general counsel. Prior to joining ISDA, Pickel was assistant general counsel in the legal department of the Amerada Hess Corporation, an international oil and gas company, from 1991 to 1997. He has also worked at Cravath, Swaine & Moore in New York and London, where he helped draft the 1991 ISDA definitions.[5] Pickel serves on the board of trustees for the Institute for Financial Markets (IFM).[6]
