Ronald Filler

Ronald Filler is a professor and director of the New York Law School's Center for Financial Services Law.[1] He is also a former managing director in the Capital Markets Prime Services Division at Lehman Brothers. He was appointed an independent director on the board of NYSE Liffe U.S. on March 23, 2010. [2]

Filler has served on numerous industry boards and advisory committees during his career and, most recently, as a member of the CME Clearing House Risk Operating Committee, The Clearing Corporation board of directors and the Futures Industry Association's Law and Compliance Division Executive Committee[3] and the board of directors of the National Futures Association.

He has spoken at hundreds of industry conferences and seminars during his more than 30 years in the futures and derivatives legal fields and has taught several different law school courses at four U.S. law schools as an adjunct professor of law.

Filler has been involved with the markets since 1976 and joined Lehman Brothers in 1993. Filler has been a member of handful of futures exchanges, including the CBOT, the CME and NYMEX. He is a former member of the CFTC Global Markets Advisory Committee.

Filler was the founder and director of the Commodities Law Institute and an Adjunct Professor of Law for over 20 years at Chicago Kent College of Law, Brooklyn Law School, New York Law School and the University of Illinois, where he taught courses on Futures and Derivatives Law, Securities Law, and Brokerage-Firm Law.[4]

Education

Filler received an LL.M. from Georgetown University Law Center in 1976, a J.D. from George Washington University Law School in 1973, and a B.A. from the University of Illinois Champaign-Urbana in 1970.
