The Rosario Futures Exchange (Mercado a Termino de Rosario) is a member-owned electronic platform providing trading, settlement and clearing of financial and agricultural futures and options.
History
The Rofex was founded in 1909 as the Mercado General de Productos Nacionales (General Exchange of National Commodities), listing contracts in linen, corn and wheat, though from the 1930s became a government agency to co-ordinate grain purchases before a restructuring in 2001 opened the way for financial derivatives[1].
Peso-US dollar cash-settled futures and options were launched in May 2002, with interest-rate and index-linked contracts following in 2004.
