Roy Leighton is chairman of the UK-based Financial Services Practitioner Panel (FSPP) and a board member of the Dubai Mercantile Exchange[1].

Background

Until April 2007 he was chairman of Nymex Europe Limited, a Recognised Investment Exchange (RIE) in the UK. Prior he was UK chairman of Calyon Financial, formed from the merger of the investment banking arms of France's Crédit Agricole and Crédit Lyonnais. He also is the immediate past chairman of the Futures and Options Association (FOA), the main trade association for the European derivatives industry, a position he held from December 1999 to July 2007.

Leighton was appointed chairman of the FSPP in November 2005, the statutory body that monitors and advises the Financial Services Authority (FSA) from the perspective of the UK’s financial institutions. He also is industry chairman of the Advisory Committee for the Associate Parliamentary Group on Wholesale Financial Markets and Services and a director of International Financial Services London, the body responsible for promoting UK financial services abroad.

Leighton is immediate past chairman of the World Bank’s International Task Force for Commodities and is a Trustee of Alzheimers Research Trust. He also is a council member of the British Consultants and Construction Bureau (BCCB).
