The Security Traders Automated Quotation System (STAQ) is a forerunner of the NASDAQ. It updated information on 1,500 of the more active over-the-counter stocks throughout the market day at hourly intervals.
STAQ was created largely through the efforts of The Security Traders Association (STA).
