Company was formed to provide technical services for the exchanges themselves, members and other financial institutions. In this role, SIAC provided the computers and other systems required to run the exchanges.

Originally formed as an entity co-owned by the New York Stock Exchange and the American Stock Exchange, the NYSE became the full owner of SIAC on November 1, 2006.
