Prior to his appointment at OneChicago, McCabe had worked throughout his career at the Chicago Board of Trade (CBOT), first for the Office of Investigations and Audits. He rose to managing director of the CBOT's Investigations Department and in 1999 moved to the exchange's operations side. In this role, he figured prominently in the introduction and implementation of the automated order-routing technology. In 2001 he became vice president for floor business and in 2005 assumed additional responsibilities as vice president of trading operations, where he led a key project for straight-through processing for the trading floor. In this role he was instrumental in combining the CBOT and CME floors when the two exchanges completed their July 2007 merger.[2]
