Prior to joining Offit Capital, Dr. Petzel was a founding partner and chief investment officer of Azimuth Asset Management, a position he held from 2003 to 2007. From 1996 to 2002, he served as chief investment officer of Commonfund, an asset manager and fund of funds. Prior to his work at Commonfund, he served as chief economist at the Chicago Mercantile Exchange and in a similar role at the Coffee, Sugar and Cocoa Exchange. He has also taught classes in economics and finance at the University of Chicago, Stanford University and Macalester College in St. Paul, Minnesota. He has written extensively about the markets and is the author of Financial Futures and Options: A Guide to Markets, Applications, and Strategies.

Education

He holds a Ph.D., an MA and a BA, with honors, in Economics from the University of Chicago.
