Aubrey G. Lanston was a former assistant to the Secretary of the Treasury and founder of bond broker Aubrey G. Lanston & Co.. Lanston founded the company in 1949, by 1957 it was given designation as a primary dealer for treasury securities by the Federal Reserve. Lanston traded directly with the Federal Reserve Bank of New York’s Open Market Desk, underwrote U.S. Treasury auctions, and made markets in U.S. Treasury and Federal Agency obligations.
