Brian Hunter

Brian Hunter was co-head of global energy and commodities at Amaranth Advisors in 2007 when he was accused by FERC of manipulating the price of natural gas futures on the New York Mercantile Exchange.[1]

The CFTC also brought a separate case against Hunter.

Hunter and other natural gas traders had been guessing that the difference between futures prices for natural gas delivered during the Northern Hemisphere's summer and winter months would continue to get larger, as had been the trend for the past three years. Instead, the spread collapsed. [2]
