Carlos Arenillas Lorente [1] is the vice president of the Comision Nacional del Mercado de Valores, a position he has held since 2004. Arenillas Lorente currently serves as the CNMV representative on the Committee of European Securities Regulators.

Background

Prior to joining CNMV, Arenillas spent 17 years with the CIMD Group, a Holding Society, which he helped found. He served in a number of capacities, and while there was responsible for developing a wide range of companies that provide financial intermediation services, private asset management and economic and financial analysis. Simultaneously, Arenillas served as chairman of the Asociacion de Mediadores del Mercado Interbancario, Intermoney, which organized the Jornadas de Mercados Financieros, and SENAF, the official secondary market for Spanish public debt.

Education

Arenillas Lorente holds a BA in Economics from the Universidad Complutense de Madrid.
