Clare Black is head of communications and diversity at Innovate Finance, an independent membership association that represents the UK’s global FinTech community. She took the post in November 2018, after serving as strategic communications advisor at the organization starting in July 2018.
In 2019, Black was named one of 30 inspirational women city leaders by Brummell Magazine.
Black also served for 14 years as a reporter and deputy editor at Reuters, managing more than 100 correspondents in the Europe, Middle East and Asia zones. She served in several locations for Reuters including London, New York and Ivory Coast.
She is also a strong proponent and actively involved with financial and charitable organizations as well as those for blind children. She is on the board of Women In Listed Derivatives in London as well as chairman and trustee director of Blind Children UK since 2007, a trustee at Sight For Surrey and non-executive director and board trustee, and member of the audit and investment committees for the charity, The Guide Dogs for the Blind Association. The mother of a blind son, she has committed to promoting care and services for the blind.
She earned her bachelor of science degree in international business and modern languages (French) at Aston University.
