David Eldon is non-executive chairman of the Dubai International Financial Centre Authority, taking up the position in May 2006 after a career which included 37 years with HSBC, where he was chairman of Hong Kong and Shanghai Banking Corp and chairman of Hang Seng Bank from 1999-2005.
He is also non-executive chairman of the Noble Group, the commodities trader, deputy chairman of the Hong Kong Jockey Club, a director of the Mass Transit Railway Corporation in Hong Kong, Eagle Asset Management, and China Central Properties. He is also senior advisor, PricewaterhouseCoopers Hong Kong.
Eldon spent 14 years in the Middle East, including spells at British Bank of the Middle East and Saudi British Bank.
