Greenberg started his career in Chicago as a runner, working for Jimmy Kaulentis, for $3.75 per hour.
He has worked for 25 years in multiple trading venues. He most recently served as a member of the NYMEX Board of Directors and Executive Committee.
Greenberg graduated from Syracuse University's Whitman School of Management in 1986. 
In 2020, Greenberg participated in the MarketsWiki Education Open Outcry Traders History Project. He was the first non-Chicago trader to be featured in the video series.
