Kazim was appointed as director general of the DFM in 1999, assuming the chairman role with its launch in 2000 and overseeing its IPO in 2006.
He was appointed chairman of Borse Dubai at its formation in August 2007, overseeing its 80 per cent holding in the DMA and 100 per cent stake in the Dubai International Financial Exchange, as well as an international expansion which includes investments in the London Stock Exchange and the proposed Nasdaq OMX Group.
He started his career as an analyst in the UAE Central Bank in 1988 and then moved to Dubai Department of Economic Development as Director of Planning and Development in 1993.
Kazim graduated with a Masters in economics from the University of Iowa, and holds a Bachelors degree in Mathematics, Economics and Computer Science from Coe College in Iowa, and a Masters degree in Total Quality Management from the University of Wollongong in the UAE.
