François Gilbert is the vice president of legal affairs for the derivatives division at the Montreal Exchange. He was appointed in May 2009.
Gilbert was previously a senior lawyer at the firm Allen & Overy LLP, a London-based derivatives and structured finance group. Prior to that, he was a structured finance partner and the head of the derivatives business at McCarthy Tétrault LLP in Toronto.
He is qualified to practice law in Ontario (1994), England and Wales (2006) and Québec (2009 – special Corporate Legal Advisor permit).
