Frederick R. Demler is a futures markets professional. He is currently global head of metals at INTL FC Stone.

Previously, he was an executive vice president at MF Global and manages MF Global’s commodities department.

Demler serves on various advisory boards on the LME, is a director of the American Copper Council and the Copper Club.[1] He also is a Penn State Fellow.

Background

Prior to joining MFG, previously Man Financial, in 1993, Demler worked in various research, marketing, and management capacities at PaineWebber, Drexel Burnham and Exxon. 

 Demler writes on the commodities markets and has also written numerous papers and presentations on price-risk management and forecasting, teaches various workshops on hedging, lectures at various universities domestically and internationally, and has advised the G-30 (Group of 30) on the commodities markets, the impact of the funds and the role of China in the commodity markets.

Education

Demler earned his Ph.D. and a B.S. in Mineral Economics from the Pennsylvania State University, where also was an instructor and did post-graduate research for the National Science Foundation, the U.S. Bureau of Mines, and Resources for the Future. As an undergraduate, Demler played on the Penn State football team.
