Gordon Shuh Chen is Chairman of Taiwan's OTC GreTai Securities Market (GTSM) and is a former Taiwan finance minister and Taiwan Stock Exchange (TSE) chairman. Under his leadership the GTSM has pushed further into international markets and trading and formed partnerships with several south-east Asian exchanges.

Background

Gordon Shu Chen took over from Lu Tung-ying as chairman of the GTSM on August 11, 2009[1] and since then the GTSM has announced technology and listing partnerships with regional investment powerhouses Bursa Malaysia and the Singapore Exchange. Chen was appointed chairman of the Taiwan Stock Exchange in August 2006 when he was serving as a deputy finance minister, replacing Wu Nai-jen.[2] He served for 17 years on the Taiwanese Ministry of Finance's securities and futures committee but was removed as chairman of that committee in 1996 after a series of disputes.

Education

Chen graduated from Taiwan's National Chengchi University with a master's degree in public finance. He also gained a doctorate in business from the National Taiwan University.
