Jenner & Block is a law firm based in Chicago. The firm's specialties include litigation and transactional practices. The firm chairman, Anton R. Valukas, is the former United States Attorney for the Northern District of Illinois. He served as the court-appointed examiner in the Lehman Brothers bankruptcy.[1]

In July, 2012, the NFA appointed Jenner to review their auditing practices in the fallout following the bankruptcy of PFGBest, the Cedar Rapids-based FCM.[2]

History

Since its foundation in 1914 under the name Newman, Poppenhusen & Stern, Jenner & Block has gone through many name changes. The firm's focus had always been in the area of corporate litigation in representing prominent Chicago businesses and individuals. Throughout the course of the 20th century, the firm became a prominent supreme court litigator and, subsequently, attracted clients such as Fannie Mae, Merrill Lynch and General Electric onto its retainer. The firm and its partners have played large roles in the writing and enactment of the Dodd-Frank Act.

Distinguished Alumni include Supreme Court justice John Paul Stevens.
