Jesus Benito is the chief executive officer of Iberclear, the Spanish central securities depository (CSD)registrar. He oversees the daily management of strategic matters for the company. Benito has been a member of several industry groups including the Expert Group Market Infrastructure (EGMI), the Monitoring Group of the Code of Conduct (MOG) and the Consultative Working Group for the Post-Trading Standing Committee. He was recently placed as the project manager for a joint creation of a Trade Repository between Clearstream Banking Luxembourg and BME. [1]

In July, 2012, Benito was appointed chairman of the CSD Steering Group (CSG) in the governance framework of TARGET2 Securities (T2S). There, he aims to fulfill the CSD Steering Group's objective of allowing for the core, neutral and borderless settlement of securities transactions on a delivery-versus-payment basis in central bank money under the ECB Governing Council.[2][3]

Background

Benito joined Iberclear in 2000, first as director of strategy and promotion, then deputy general director until his appointment as CEO in 2006. Prior to this, he worked for the Bank of Spain in various roles.
