John F. Deters
He reports to CBOE chairman and CEO Ed Tilly.
Before joining CBOE, Deters served as vice president, financial institutions group, investment banking, for Barclays beginning in 2008. He worked in a similar capacity for Lehman Brothers from 2006 to 2008. At both firms, he developed multi-business-line strategic analyses for financial and banking clients, structured and executed a wide variety of corporate financing transactions, and led execution teams in domestic and international merger and acquisition transactions, including the acquisition of Dow Jones Indexes by CME Group and the formation of the S&P Dow Jones Indices joint venture and related licensing agreements.
He also worked as an associate in the M&A practice group for Skadden, Arps, Slate, Meager & Flom, in New York, London and Frankfurt, between 2001 to 2004. He also served in the banking regulation division for the Institute of International Finance and office of international affairs for the Securities and Exchange Commission.
He earned a bachelor's degree in history from Wheaton College, and an MBA from the University of Chicago and a JD/Master of Science in Foreign Service from Georgetown University Law Center in Washington, D.C. He is a member of the New York State Bar Association.
