John G. Gaine is special advisor to the Futures Industry Association (FIA) Board of Directors.He also serves as president emeritus and special counsel, International Affairs to the Managed Funds Association (MFA). Gaine assumed this role in February 2008 after serving as MFA's president for 10 years. He was MFA's director of government relations and general counsel from 1993 to 1997.
From 1981 to 1993, Gaine was in private practice specializing in commodities, and from 1977 to 1981, he was general counsel for the Commodity Futures Trading Commission.
Gaine received his B.A. from the University of Notre Dame in 1964 and his LL.B from Harvard University in 1967. He is admitted to the bar in both Washington, D.C. and New York.
